5 Players that Rajkot will look to buy: The Indian Premier League is all set to add new feathers to its wing when two new franchises, Rajkot and Pune, will bid for 5 players each through player draft process, scheduled for December 15 in Mumbai. Intex’s Keshav Bansal bagged the Rajkot franchise at the Team Auctions held n December 8. While Pune has had its name in the IPL before, Rajkot will feature for the first time. Needless to say, the franchise would want to have its imprint on the cash-rich tournament. While Raina, Dhoni, Ashwin, Jadeja, Rahane, Watson and Steve Smith are the most likely players to be picked in the draft process, it would be interesting to see the combination that this franchise has on its mind.

1. Brendon McCullum

Owing to their lowest bids during the Team auction, Pune have bagged the right to bid first. It is almost certain that MS Dhoni would be their choice. Rajkot, in such case, would want to have a big impact player as their first man. The Kiwi Skipper would be the ideal for this role. Brash, brutal and brilliant to watch, Brendon McCullum can bruise bowling attacks like few other men in international cricket. The way he lit up IPL with a blitzkrieg 158* in 2008, he could light up the IPL for Rajkot the same way. McCullum could provide the flying starts which are vital in the tournament and the Rajkot franchise would be pretty much aware of it.
