One of the most shocking player release in IPL history happened before the 2014 season. The Chennai Super Kings did not retain Mr. Cricket Michael Hussey for the seventh edition of the league. Hussey had scored 733 runs for the MS Dhoni-led outfit in the sixth season.

The Australian veteran had won the Orange Cap award for his supreme consistency in that season. Still, CSK did not retain him for the next edition of the IPL. Hussey had registered six fifty-plus scores for Chennai that year.

In the IPL Auction 2014, Mumbai Indians signed him for 5 Crores. He could not continue his past form, but he did well enough to earn another contract from CSK in 2015. Currently, he is the batting coach of the 3-time IPL champions.
