5 South African ODI players touring India for the first time: The Mahatma Gandhi–Nelson Mandela series is all set to hit the floors on 2nd October in what is anticipated to be the most invigorating bilateral series of the year. The South African side has played exceptional cricket on overseas tours in the past decade or so and has emerged as one of the strongest sides in the world. We all know that these days teams are like ‘Lions at home and lambs abroad’. But this saying certainly doesn’t hold true for the South African’s as they have been fierce competitors on the 22 yards irrespective of the conditions.
Here are the 5 South African ODI players touring India for the first time:
1. Quinton de Kock:
The talented Protea wicket-keeper batter De Kock is making a return to the national side after missing out against New Zealand due to poor form. It will be his first tour to India in international cricket though he had recently played well for South Africa A against India and also possess the experience of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It will be a series in which Quinton can blossom and cement back his place in the side. The southpaw has hammered 349 runs in 4 ODIs against India with 3 centuries at an average of 87.25. If he can handle Indian spinners and R Ashwin in particular who bowls exceptionally well against left-handed batsmen then he can make it big on this tour.
