Back in 2018, when the Cauvery incident was hogging the headlines in Chennai, the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium was a witness to a shameful incident. It panned out in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) first match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

A couple of miscreants hurled shoes at Faf du Plessis and Ravindra Jadeja. The unidentified persons were then detained by the police. Later, reacting on the matter, Jadeja said that despite the unruly behaviour, CSK got loads of support from the fans.

The Super Kings won the match in the last over. Nevertheless, the protests surrounding the Cauvery saga increased. In the end, CSK’s home matches were shifted to Pune’s MCA Stadium. To Chennai’s luck, they played all their home games in 2019 at the Chepauk.
