This dreadful incident had occurred in IPL 2017, as MS Dhoni, who was IPL’s most accomplished captain at that time was enforced to quit his captaincy for the Pune franchise. In IPL 2016, the RPS team under MS Dhoni’s captaincy had finished in the bottom half of the points table and mainly because of this overall inferiority, the owners eventually wanted a young captain like Steve Smith to lead them in the next season.

While the team’s poor run under MS Dhoni in IPL 2016 was the hallmark reason for appointing a new captain, the entire incident later was found to have some other swirling angles. Sanjiv Goenka, whose the owner of the RPS franchise, had later revealed in an interview about his awful experience of working with MS Dhoni especially highlighting Dhoni’s overall conduct as the skipper of the team, along with his unneeded suggestions in the non-cricketing matters of the franchise.

Mr Goenka in his interview had also further underlined how Dhoni’s sacking decision had become unacceptable for many, but the fans, in particular, saw this entire episode as an obnoxious mortification to captain cool’s s overall towering legacy in the game. Overall, after getting conveyed regarding his captaincy loss, MS Dhoni was found to remain unaffected and continued playing like an elite player of the franchise.
