2. Switch Hit- Kevin Pietersen

When Kevin Pietersen had first played the switch hit shot, it even had impressed the old maestros like Geoffery Boycott. The 81-year-old former English cricketer was behind the mic when Pietersen had whacked Muralitharan. Boycott had looked astounded. However, two years later when Pietersen again offered it to Scott Styris, the switch hit’s lawfulness was challenged.

Barring its legality issues, the stroke is a modern-day punt that every innovative batter armors today. Though now its current advocates like David Warner and Glenn Maxwell don’t play quite breathtakingly, Pietersen did while smashing Styris for consecutive sixes.

Perhaps barring Pietersen, some experts argue that South Africa’s Jacques Kallis also used to exercise a similar feat, especially in the late 1990s. Even New Zealand’s Craig McMillan is believed to be a pioneer in initiating the stroke. However, Pietersen’s brace against the Kiwis in 2008 seems to be prominent in all scenarios.
