MS Dhoni is well known for finishing off the chases with sixes as he achieved this feat on as many as nine occasions in ODI cricket. In the recorded history of the ODI cricket, no other player has finished a successful run-chase in this format on more than five instances. Two of the nine instances, where Dhoni finished chases with six, were in the tournament finals. He struck Nuwan Kulasekara for a six in the penultimate over of the 2011 World Cup.
He repeated it the 2013 Triangular Series Final when they needed 15 runs in the final over bowled by Shaminda Eranga. There are only four instances when a captain completed successful chases with sixes in a tournament final till date with Dhoni recording two of those. Sanath Jayasuriya in 1999 and Upul Tharanga in 2016 are the other two.
