A biopic on Muttiah Muralitharan titled '800' in development, famous South Indian actor Vijay Sethupathi to play the role

Muttiah Muralitharan is probably the best spinner to have ever played the game. The Sri Lankan holds the record of most wickets in both ODIs and Tests format. The legendary off-spinner has been an absolute legend of the game and a true ambassador as well.

During his 19-years long career for Sri Lanka, Muralitharan picked up 800 Test wickets and 534 ODIs scalps. After his retirement in 2011, the spinner continued to stay attached to the game. He played T20 leagues in various countries for the next three years. He eventually landed the post of the bowling coach with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

Recently, there were reports of a biopic movie been made on the legendary off-spinner surfaced. As per reports, a film titled 800 is in development. The movie will be based on the life of the Sri Lankan stalwart. The movie’s title idea comes from the fact the Muralitharan is the first and only bowler to have 800 Tests wickets. With the current situation, it seems the legend will hold onto that record for some time now.

Vijay Sethupathi will essay the role of the Sri Lankan legend

It has been also reported that renowned South Indian actor Vijay Sethupathi has been chosen for the movie, 800. Sethupathi, who made his debut in 1996, will essay the role of the Sri Lankan legend in this movie. The shooting of the movie will start after the actor finishes his ongoing projects.

Before the start of the shoot, Sethupathi will also undergo training to get in the right shape for the role. The actor will hope to learn cricket and get in the groove for the role of a cricketer. The training will also aim to help the actor understand the characteristics and mannerism of Muralitharan.

It has been also reported that Yogi Babu will play the role of Russell Arnold in the movie. Arnold is a longtime teammate of Muttiah Muralitharan. They both have played together years in the Sri Lankan team and share a good bond.
