IPL 2022 is heading towards its end as playoffs are being played to decide the two finalists. Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator of the tournament. All eyes will be on former RCB captain Virat Kohli, who has got his form in the last league game against the Gujarat Titans with a remarkable knock 0f 73 runs.

Talking about Kohli’s performance this season, Virender Sehwag has said that a century will be enough to forget the poor outings for him in IPL 2022 so far. The former Indian opener also backed Kohli to perform against LSG after he has not been in the form in the last couple of months.

A century would be a revival for Kohli: Virender Sehwag

“If Kohli scores a century against LSG, who will say looking at his stats that he had a bad season? He will then end with 400-plus runs and that is considered a good season. He has a great platform to excel as his team has reached the knockouts. Kohli can perform well and take the team forward.” Sehwag told CricBuzz.

Kohli has not had a memorable IPL season as he has scored only 309  runs in 14 matches at an average of 23.77 and a strike rate of 117.94. The 33-year-old has only two half-centuries to his name in the season. Meanwhile, RCB has won eight matches out of the total of 14 games they played in IPL 2022 and finished their league stage at the fourth spot. They will lock horns with third-spot LSG to get into the second qualifier where they will have to face Rajasthan Royals who lost to Gujarat Titans by seven wickets in the first qualifier.

Meanwhile, speaking about the Eliminator clash, former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel said: “They [RCB] qualified in the last two seasons as well. But they were losing matches as they approached the qualifiers and just sneaked through. They were starting well but losing games before the playoffs. Thus, they did not have the momentum heading into the playoffs. Things are different here. They won their last match and have tasted wins in a couple of games before that as well. They have been eliminated in the Eliminator twice before, but will be hopeful of getting past it this time.”
