Jimmy Neesham is a proficient cricketer for New Zealand, but has faced a lot of heartbreaks, especially after me made his national comeback last year. In the final of the 2019 World Cup against England, the left-hander scored 13 out of the 15 runs off fast bowler Jofra Archer, yet the Black Caps couldn’t get over the line. After the game, the Auckland-born Neesham was a depressed lot.
He asked the youngsters to not take up the sport. Then he played for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the 2019 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). On his 27th birthday, he was unable to defend around 17 runs in the Super Over match against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Carlos Brathwaite’s knock guided the Patriots to a victory and slapped the Kings with a defeat.

Then at the Eden Gardens in Auckland, Neesham was involved in a T20I against the Brits where the Kiwis again missed out in a Super Over. Apart from his on-field prowess, Neesham is also an active participant on the social media platforms. The all-rounder also gets back to his fans after being asked questions. Recently, Neesham had another of such conversations with a supporter.
He was asked about his value in New Zealand dollars. The fan took to Twitter and wrote, “The real net worth is the friends we make along the way,” Neesham had a philosophical reply to the user. He replied to the user and wrote, “@JimmyNeesh how rich are u ? What is ur net worth in NZ $?”

Neesham last donned the national colours in the Black Caps’ ODI series against Australia back in March. The game at the Sydney Cricket Ground was played behind closed doors due to the massive coronavirus outbreak. Reports of Lockie Ferguson and Kane Richardson surfaced, but danger evaded them. The series was then called off and the cricketers were asked to return to their homes.
Neesham had a weird experience of playing in front of empty stands. He narrated an incident when he could hear the security personnel communicating on walkie-talkies. He was also astonished to see how things have deteriorated ever since the encounter.
