There’s no stopping Virat Kohli at the highest level. Having notched tons and tons of runs, donning the Indian jersey, the Delhi-born has set new benchmarks of success. At the age of 30, he has already broken a number of records and is speculated to take down a few in the years to come. He is currently leading the Men in Blue in the three-match T20I series against South Africa.

Virat was at his very best in the second T20I at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The bearded beast was adjudged the Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 72 runs off 52 balls with the help of four boundaries and three hits into the stands, one of which came off Kagiso Rabada. The hosts were chasing a target of 150 and the Indian skipper’s inning scripted the win with one over to spare.

The seasoned campaigner shared a 61-run stand with opener Shikhar Dhawan and it put India in a commanding position. En route the impressive knock, Virat also racked up a few records. He is now the only cricketer in the planet to have a batting average in excess of 50 in all the three formats. In the meantime, Shahid Afridi was all praises for Virat after the masterful display in Mohali.

Kohli drew level with Afridi in the encounter. Both share 11 Player of the Match awards in the T20I format. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi tops the list with 12 such awards, the latest one coming versus Bangladesh on Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. Kohli also has the most number of 50 plus scores in T20Is (22), surpassing opener Rohit Sharma.

Moreover, the right-hander is the leading run-scorer in T20Is, going past Rohit itself. Virat has a great fan following in Pakistan as well and it wasn’t a surprise that Afridi, the former all-rounder, lauded him. Afridi wished him success for the future and wished for him to entertain one and all in the future.

The veteran took to Twitter and wrote, “Congratulations @imVkohli You are a great player indeed, wish you continued success, keep entertaining cricket fans all around the world,”
