Former India skipper, MS Dhoni has an enormous following across the country and overseas. The most successful captain of the national team has given his fans numerous occasions of delight and they can never thank him enough. Dhoni, who is currently preparing to lead the Men in Yellow for the forthcoming IPL season, was recently at an event in Lucknow for the inauguration of Sports galaxy in the city.

Children, as well as adults, were present at the event when one fan who was invited on the stage, bowed down before Dhoni and just lied at his feet. Acknowledging the emotions of his fan, MS gifted him a signed bat and also obliged for a selfie. Though, it was difficult to get him off the stage but on Dhoni’s humble request, everything seemed to fall in place. This is not the first time when Dhoni has encountered something of this sort as he has witnessed this on numerous occasions when fans have to get close to him and have touched his feet.

Here’s the video:

After calling it a day in Test cricket in 2014, Dhoni has been keen on spending more time with the family and wants to play the limited-overs format until the 2019 World Cup. He has taken up the role of a guiding force in the team and helps everyone from the captain to the players.

The 37-year old who is nearing the twilight in his career recently lauded the ICC’s decision to award ODI status to Nepal. In his views, “It’s (ODI status) a result of their hard-work and sincere effort. I don’t think that participation of small teams will dilute the standard of cricket the world over. To make cricket a global sport, I believe more and more such teams must come into fray, and it is good that Associate nations are trying to gain ICC’s ODI status,” Dhoni remarked.
