Ahmedabad is gearing up to boast of the largest cricket stadium in the world. The newly-revamped Motera Stadium will be etching its name in history in a few days. Honourable Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a number of other renowned former cricketers will be jointly inaugurating the stadium on Monday, February 24. US President Donald Trump won’t be there though for the inauguration.

Back in the early 2000s, the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata used to accommodate in excess of 1,00,000 spectators. Yet, there used to be full houses whenever India used to ply their trade in the City of Joy. It’s now the turn of the picturesque Motera Stadium to present itself. The excitement surrounding the stadium has been seen even among the former Indian cricketers.

Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president and former Indian skipper, and Team India head coach Ravi Shastri have dropped tweets, praising the newly constructed stadium. With Motera at the top, the other four in the top five largest stadiums are the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Eden Gardens, the Perth Stadium and the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad.

India have tasted a fair amount of success at the very venue. Out of 28 matches across all the formats, India have won 12 game while losing 10. Six of those contests didn’t produce any result. It won’t be wrong in saying that India would be keen to take the field in Ahmedabad and carry on with their impressive run. Overall, the Motera Stadium is a complete package.

A video is doing the rounds on social media where there’s an entire tour of the stadium. The clip shows a dressing room and a banquet hall to start with. It also gives a glimpse of the stunning seating capacity which the Motera Stadium will be having.

The surroundings of the venue are painted in orange, yellow and blue, giving it a look of a poetic masterpiece to say the least. All in all, it’s tough to eke out a flaw in the venue from the naked eye and the happenings on Monday remains to be seen.
