With each passing day, the competitiveness seems to notch up higher echelon in terms of cricket in India with almost every second child wishing to emulate the greats of modern day cricket. However, one aspect which seems to make a paradigm shift between the most deserving individual and playing with the younger ones is age. In order to curb the practice of age forging, local cricket organizers have now made it mandatory for all to have Aadhar cards.
The organizers of Under-15 cricket tournament, Netlink Dilip Buildcon have conceptualized this idea. The 50 over tournament which is scheduled to start tomorrow (3 April) will see top 10 teams of Bhopal to take on each other in Mandideep. According to Time of India (TOI), the organizing committee has also made arrangement for bone testing, which eventually will help them to have a clear picture. Aruneshwar Singhde, member of the organizing committee said: “We have also made arrangement for the bone testing of the players if anyone raises doubt against any player.”
Aadhar Card Mandatory in Bhopal
Further to that, “There will also be biometric machines installed at the venues. FYI, Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique-identity number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to all the residents of India based on their biometric and demographic data.”
It will be interesting to see whether the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) adapt to this change and ask the other parts of India to take it into practice before letting any player take the field. This will be the first time that Aadhaar card has been made mandatory for any sporting event in MP. Bhopal Cricket Association has not only been able to set an example but has also been to announce the fair practice which they look to follow.
