Khaleel Ahmed, the left-arm pacer has hit the spotlight due to his below-par performance in the T20I series against Bangladesh. He was picked by the selectors as the strike bowler of the team in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. But, he has remained unsuccessful until now for the hosts. Also, he had to face the heat of the fans on social media platforms after the Rajkot game.

In 2nd T20I, Rohit Sharma stole the limelight for his commendable knock of 85 runs in 43 balls. It was his innings that turned the match into a one-sided affair. Also, he helped Team India to level the series in which they were lagging.

Khaleel Ahmed’s nightmare continues

Khaleel is having a nightmare series till now and has failed to impress the selectors with his bowling. In the 1st T20I game played in Delhi, he gave away four consecutive boundaries in his last over. Everybody expected a good performance in the next match from him. But, the left-arm pacer started from the point where he left in the national capital and gave away three consecutive boundaries in his very first over of the game at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

The young Indian pacer was than replaced by Washington Sundar after his expensive over. And, when Khaleel was brought back into the attack for his second over, in that also he failed to stop the flow of runs and gave away 10 runs. In the match, he recorded the most expensive figures among Indian bowlers of 4-0-44-1.

And it will be an important call for Rohit to make in the 3rd T20I, if he wants to go with the left-arm medium-pacer or will pick Shardul Thakur in the series decider that will be played in Nagpur at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. Khaleel Ahmed’s average bowling in the match didn’t go well with the Indian cricket fans, who made a mockery of the fast bowler for his poor show against Bangladesh.

Later on, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started off well and stitched an opening stand of 118 runs with Shreyas Iyer playing a small cameo of 24 runs in 13 balls that finished the match in 15.4 overs.
