AB de Villiers has successfully gone through the tough period after announcing his retirement from international cricket earlier this week. He thanked all his teammates and fans for taking his shocking revelation positively and is now set to spend some valuable time with his family. While many were surprised with his decision to hang his boots, it was rather a time to stand up and applaud to one of the legends of the game for his achievements. However, De Villiers has now opened up about his personal life and has revealed that he loves writing more than anything else.

The Superman of South Africa recently was in India plying his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Though his team failed to qualify for the playoffs yet again, his form with the bat was exceptional and helped them win most of the matches. He also took a superhuman catch while fielding at the deep mid-wicket and left everyone in his awe.

He recalled his stay in India and was thrilled to be part of the RCB after witnessing the fan following of the franchise. “I absolutely love coming here ever since the first time I travelled to the country in 2002. But joining the RCB team — I’ve been with them for 8 years now — has definitely been a great experience. Lots of great friends, great people, they look after me so well. I love playing with Bangalore,” he was quoted as saying by GQ India.

An interesting revelation

In an era where taking selfies with a celebrity is popular, AB de Villiers loves the person who asks for an autograph. He also revealed that he loves to write letters and how he cleans up his mess to make his wife Danielle de Villiers happy.

“Everyone wants a selfie these days but there’ll be this one person who wants an autograph. I love it. It has such an old-school touch. I’ve got a wife who enjoys a letter,” he says. “I love writing letters, especially when I do something wrong, she doesn’t want to see me so I need to write it down and leave it for her and make up for it. There’s no better touch than to write a letter,” he concluded.
