Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra has recently joined the long list of people to have voiced out their opinions on the abrupt exit of Indian cricket team head coach Anil Kumble. Kumble stepped down as the coach of the national side on Tuesday (June 20) and later shared a note to the fans on the social media as well. In the note, he mentioned that he had a great time serving in the capacity of the head coach.

However, he also revealed that the Indian captain Virat Kohli had ‘reservations about his style’ of working. In the recent times, several reports had flooded the media that spoke about the rift between the Indian players and Anil Kumble. Some reports speculated that there is an internal war between Kohli and Kumble.

Albeit Kohli always denied such claims in the media, the note shared by Anil Kumble seems to be validating the speculations. Apparently, it was the overpowering nature of Kumble that did not go down well with the players and the skipper. But truth be told, when it came to performances, team India had a dream run under Kumble.

They lost only one Test in the grand home season of Indian cricket where the team played 13 matches. Under his coaching, the team also registered a Test series win in West Indies and recently had made it to the finals of the Champions Trophy. Hence, his exit did not go down well with the fans and many find it inexplicable.

Bindra takes a subtle dig

Abhinav Bindra is one of those fans. Bindra took to his social media handle and took a subtle dig at the Indian captain citing his own example. He noted that he absolutely hated his coach but stuck to his rules and methodologies for almost 20 years. In the end, it all benefited him. “My biggest teachers was coach Uwe.I hated him!But stuck with him for 20 years. He always told me things I did not want to hear.#justsaying,” tweeted Abhinav Bindra.
