Abhinav Mukund comes up with social message - 'Fair is not the only handsome'

Cricketers in the recent times have used the social media in a very effective way to convey various social messages. The list was recently joined by Indian opener Abhinav Mukund. Mukund took to the micro blogging site Twitter to express his views on one of the most grave grounds of biasing in the society – the racism. He posted a long note on his account stating how he faced lewd remarks for his dark skin tone.

He remarked that he had been waiting to speak on the issue for quite some time now. Abhinav Mukund pointed out that he has spent a large share of his adulthood on the ground under the hot sun. Hence, the dark skin tone is something that was bound to come his way. However, he has no regrets regarding the same and is not ashamed of his skin color at all.

He further cited that he hails from Chennai, one of the hottest cities of India. The India opener seemed to have got a tad emotional too as he recalled the times when he was being laughed at and had to listen to random comments coming in from different corners based on the same grounds. He conceded that he is speaking not only for himself but for several others who have been facing the same discrimination.

He concluded by saying, “Obviously, with the rise of social media it has gone to a magnitude that I see people hurling abuses left, right, and centre at something I have absolutely no control over. Fair isn’t the only lovely and handsome guys! Stay true, stay focused, be comfortable in your own skin.”
