Actor Mohanlal receives jersey from Sanju Samson; RR skipper responds

Sanju Samson’s journey as the captain of Rajasthan Royals started on a bittersweet note. The right-handed batsman made his debut as the captain of the franchise on Monday (April 12) when RR locked horns against Punjab Kings in the fourth match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Samson led from the very front and scored a breathtaking hundred but it was not enough for his team to register a win.

The game looked all but over for RR when PBKS finished their innings on a mammoth total of 221 for 6. Skipper KL Rahul starred with the bat for PBKS, scoring 91. Deepak Hooda also played a crucial knock, slamming 64 off just 28 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 4 fours. Veteran batsman Chris Gayle looked in good touch too and scored 40 runs.

In reply, RR came up with a good fight with the bat and finished on 217 for 7. The reason behind their fight was Samson’s stunning knock. While most of his teammates failed to score big, Samson held firm from one end and nearly took his team over the line. The wicketkeeper-batsman had walked out to bat in the very first over after Ben Stokes departed for a duck.

He was out on the final ball of the match while trying to hit a six when RR needed 5 runs off the final ball. RR needed 13 runs in the final over bowled by Arshdeep Singh but could manage only 8 despite Samson hitting a six. He scored 119 off just 63 balls. His innings was laced 12 fours and 7 sixes.

Sanju Samson might have been disappointed with the result on Monday but one can say that his mood must have changed after actor Mohan Lal’s recent tweet. The actor recently took to Twitter to thank Samson for gifting him RR jersey. Posting a picture of the same, the actor tweeted: “Dear @IamSanjuSamson thank you for the jersey. May @rajasthanroyals achieve success under your captaincy this season. All the very best to the team.”

Samson was definitely delighted with the message from the veteran actor and quickly responded to the tweet, writing: “Thank you Laletta”
