Jhulan Goswami is one of the most celebrate women cricketers around the world. Her tall and sturdy stature helps her in pushing up fierce pace attack that can destroy the batting set up of opposition on any good day. She keeps bagging praised and compliments for her outstanding work every now and then. And, in the same light, actress Aahana Kumra decided to give her a tribute and posted some pictures on her Instagram posing like her.

Kumra was seen wearing Indian jersey and posed with the ball in her hand too. However, an aspect of the same tribute didn’t go too well with the netizens and she received a huge backlash for it. Trying to be identical with Goswami, Kumra put up a dark tone makeup. The tone of the makeup was made dark to depict Jhulan’s skin colour and fans did not appreciate this idea at all.

Kumra posted her Instagram pictures with the caption- “No I’m not promoting any film. This is purely a tribute to a woman I admire the most after spending time with her and learning her whole story about her journey, her hardships and her passion for the sport! @jhulangoswami fondly called jhulan di by all her team mates is loved and admired by all the members of the Indian women’s cricket team!

This photo series is my tribute to her and hopefully as actresses one day we can all break stereo types and be the best versions of ourselves by telling the greatest stories!! @jhulangoswami thank you for your story! And I wish and pray the best for you forever! Your fan! AK thank you @bhushankumar_dop for this wonderful photo shoot (sic).”

Jhulan herself liked the post and commented -‘ Great Job, keep it up.’ Many fans added that it was ‘disgusting’ idea to come up in a dark skin tone make up. Instead director should have taken up some one of the similar colour tone for this shoot. People even called it ‘disrespectful’ and ‘unnecessary imitation.’ Fans didn’t stop themselves to add that it was like ridiculing a legendary cricketer. Here are some of the reactions.
