Australian spinner Adam Zampa played a very vital role in the visitor’s victory over India in the 2nd T20I in Guwahati. Zampa picked up the wickets of Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni, as India faltered without a fight. The 25-year-old not only ended the match with figures of 2/19 but also achieved a rare feat of getting Dhoni stumped. The spinner’s wild celebration thereafter showed how crucial that particular breakthrough was.

Zampa was not impressive during the ODI series, which the visitors lost 1-4 to the home side. The leggie replaced Ashton Agar, who suffered an injury mid-series. Australia are in for a great chance to seal the series in the decider at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium tonight.

Zampa was fired up

Speaking to Cricket Australia, the spinner revealed what made him charged up during the second game. He said that he received a casual feedback from his teammate Tim Paine which fired up the young spinner. “Watching from afar in Australia, Paine said that I didn’t look like my usual self and how I usually am in the Big Bash. He said that competitive side of me wasn’t there. I don’t like hearing that about myself so I was pretty fired up about that,” Zampa said.

The promising prospect who has been in and out of the Australian side, feels that he needs to be consistent in order to cement a place in the side. “It was personally disappointing, you always want to play,” Zampa said of being dropped. Zampa, who has taken 56 international wickets so far in his short career said that“I’ve never found myself as the most skilful bowler. But I’d like to think I come back well from setbacks,”.

Australia will bank on their match-winners from the last game Moises Henriques and Jason Behrendorff to pull of a win. Henriques was unbeaten on 62 of 46 balls while Behrendorff scalped four wickets.
