The Afghanistan cricket team didn’t win a single game in the 2019 World Cup. Even though their final group encounter against Windies was a memorable one the team will be disappointed with their overall result. Now the Asian team will be heading back to home but they will be again locking horns with the Caribbeans later in the year.

Afghanistan will be eager to reverse their fortunes on the field as they really failed to build on their recent success in the World Cup. Injuries and controversial decisions off the field might have also hampered the team morale. The side should consider the latest results as a speed breaker in their long term journey.

Time to bounce back for Afghanistan

Last time when the Asian new comers took on the West Indies team in a bilateral series the ODI leg ended up in a tie. While in the T20Is they were crushed by the two-times World Champions. Now according to the FTP (Future Tour Program) the island nation is scheduled to play 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs and one Test match against Afghanistan. Their adopted home, India will be hosting West Indies for this complete tour.

“Afghanistan National team is scheduled to host West Indies for a tour from 5th November till 1st December in India. The series will include three T20Is, three ODIs, and a one-off Test match,” the ACB statement said.

Before that, the team is also expected to play a Test match against Bangladesh in September. A triangular T20 series is also planned in order to prepare themselves for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
