Afghanistan star Rashid Khan's mother passes away

The demise of Rashid's mother comes less than two years after his father's death.

Afghanistan stalwart Rashid Khan’s mother passed away on Thursday after battling with a prolonged illness. A few days, ago Rashid had even tweeted out regarding his mother’s health. He had requested the almighty and his fans to wish his mother good health.

The news of the demise of Rashid’s mother was confirmed by Jafar Haand, an Afghanistan journalist. Haand took it to Twitter to offer condolences to Rashid and wish strength to him in this difficult time.

“I regret to say @rashidkhan_19 , #Afghanistan #cricket Star, mother passed away. Our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you, Rashid Jana. May Allah rest her soul in peace. Rashid Jana, May Allah help you in this difficult time,” tweeted Jafar Haand while expressing his grief.

Rashid also shared the news through his Twitter and grieved the loss. The 21-year-old condoled the demise and said that he can’t believe that his mother is not with him anymore. Rashid also penned down an emotional message on Facebook and said that these are difficult times for him and his family.

“You were my home my mother I had no home but you. I can’t believe you are no more with me you will be missed forever. Rest In Peace,” tweeted Rashid.

The demise of Rashid’s mother comes less than two years after his father’s death. The Afghan spinner’s father had passed away in December 2018, when he was plying his trade in Australia’s Big Bash League while representing Adelaide Strikers. He had even braced the field in the match against Brisbane Heat, a day after his father’s demise.

Rashid was set to don the Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey in the thirteenth edition of the IPL. However, the tournament was indefinitely postponed in the wake of COVID-19 debacle. However, there are reports that it might be hosted in the latter stage of the year.

Rashid’s journey in the cash-rich league has been impressive as the leg-spinner has scalped 55 wickets in 46 matches with best figures of 3/19. While donning the national jersey in 4 Tests, 71 ODIs and 48 T20Is, the leg-spinner has plucked 23, 133 and 89 wickets respectively.
