India’s authoritative win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the ongoing ICC World Cup at Old Trafford on Sunday made all their fans extremely happy. From the common man to politicians and celebrities, all rejoiced Team India’s 89-run victory over Pakistan in the rain-hit game. It was India’s third victory in this World Cup out of four games and Virat Kohli’s team is looking really on their way to clinch the third world title.
Actor Ranveer Singh was at the venue during the match and was cheering up the team and also mingling with the cricket experts. He was also seen embracing Kohli on the ground after the game got over. It may be noted here that Ranveer is playing the role of Kapil Dev in his cricket-related film ‘83’ due to be released next April. The film is based on India’s historic World Cup win in 1983 on the same English soil.
Ranveer, whose attire at Old Trafford also came up for much discussion because of its uniqueness, also caught the headlines for another reason. It was because he was seen consoling a distraught Pakistani fan after Sarfaraz Ahmed’s side was humbled and the video went viral in quick time.
In the video which was taken by a Pakistani fan, Ranveer, sporting a long coat and also a pair of oversized sunglasses, was seen hugging the dejected Pakistani fan. “Put it there. There’s always a next time. Don’t be disheartened. You played well. The boys are committed, dedicated, professional, and they’ll be back,” the 33-year-old consoled the man who thanked him in response. As per a report in Pakistan’s The News, a fan named Aatif Nawaz, who works as a comedian in London, posted the video on social media.
Ranveer danced with Gavaskar
Ranveer was also seen sharing selfies with former cricketers like Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly and senior spinner Harbhajan Singh and others. He even danced with former great Sunil Gavaskar during the match. The ‘Gully Boy’ actor, who is married to ace actress Deepika Padukone, recently stayed with Kapil at his Delhi residence to understand from close his mannerisms for the upcoming film.
