India defeated Pakistan for the seventh time in the World Cup on Sunday. It was a much-awaited clash for the fans from both the countries and the Men in Blue were thoroughly professional in their approach. Also, the rain gods relented just in time for the game to go ahead though they interrupted later in the match to eventually reduce the second innings to 40 overs when the result was a foregone conclusion.

Many anticipated it to be a closely fought match as Pakistan had won against India last time when the two teams met in England in the Champions Trophy 2017 final. But it turned to be a damp squib in the end. If Pakistan’s collapse which saw them losing 4/12 killed the contest completely, the final rain interruption which eventually left them to get 136 off the last five overs to make it a drab affair.

Imad Wasm and Shadab Khan batted out those many overs in the end without any real context to reduce the losing margin to 89 runs. Eventually, it proved to be a one-sided contest and once again, like every time, India trumped over their arch-rivals.

Sehwag is bored of one-sided affairs

Even the cricketing fraternity including Virender Sehwag was excited about India and Pakistan facing each other and they hoped for a close game. However, the one-sided affair seems to have irked him. While the former India cricketer was all praise of the Men in Blue on Sunday after the victory, Sehwag took a hilarious dig at Pakistan for their big loss.

He posted his own picture with not so great expression and trolled Pakistan in the caption. “When you hope to see a close #IndvsPak World Cup match but what you keep on getting is a one-sided contest!” the caption read. Meanwhile, India have climbed to the third spot in the points table and Pakistan’s net run-rate has taken a hit and have slumped to the ninth place. The Men in Green will have to up their game soon and are left with no option to win all their four matches.
