Team India performed exceptionally during the recent Test, ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka. The Islanders were no match for the hosts as the Men in Blue rolled over the Lankans with sheer disdain. They stamped their authority on the visitors during the recently concluded T20I series and registered a thumping victory by a margin of 3-0.

Rohit Sharma’s men were clinical throughout the duration of the series and hardly allowed Thisara Perera’s men to get a foothold in the series. While their batsmen dictated terms to the Lankans, the bowlers tied down the visiting batters. India will now be touring South Africa for a Test, ODI and a T20I series.

Ravi Shastri, the Indian head coach, expressed his joy while focusing on India’s next assignment against the might of the Proteas. “Looking very much forward to South Africa. Would like to reiterate the home season we`ve had. Never easy, no matter what conditions you play in. There were few hiccups in the middle. Games like Dharamsala which taught us a lot,” he said in a post-match interview.

The former Indian all-rounder also emphasised the need for challenging conditions and situations in a cricketer’s career. “That`s the challenge. In your playing career, if you`re not up for challenges, then it`s no fun. Should be a good series. This is a side which can compete anywhere in the world,” Shastri iterated

A tough road ahead for India

Pitches in South Africa are expected to be diverse from the ones in sub-continent. India have struggled in their previous tour of the nation having lost the series on all occasions. However, this time around, Virat Kohli’s men will be looking to stitch together some decent performances and turn their fortunes around in the African nation. The first Test begins on the 5th of January at the Newlands in Cape Town.
