The Indian side and the County Select XI are battling it out against each other in the three-day warm-up game. Rohit Sharma had taken up the mantle of captaincy for this match as Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane both are not a part of this game owing to a stiff back and swelling in the left hamstring respectively. However today, Virat Kohli was seen back to practice in the nets.

As Virat wasn’t playing this match, speculations about his fitness were taking rounds. However, the Indian batter was spotted hitting at the nets in Durham, which has been a big relief for all the cricket on-lookers. He was seen hitting all the shots whilst practicing in the nets ahead of the five-match Test series against England.

Virat looked fit and comfortable hitting the balls. His shots naturally looked as effortless as ever in the pictures. Thus, it is no wonder that the fans who were yearning to watch him back with the willow after a break post the WTC final must have sighed in relief. The Durham Cricket took it to their Twitter account to post a video of Kohli enjoying a net session at Emirates Riverside. They captioned the video as: “Hi @imVkohli. A lunch time net session for the @BCCI captain at Emirates Riverside”, while the BCCI also shared the video of the Indian skipper’s practice session.

Virat Kohli and company are raring for the Test series

After having served the break, the team regrouped in Durham for their practice game against the County Select XI. As soon as he got back to practice in the training sessions, Kohli expressed his happiness as he had tweeted images of him batting and captioned it as, “When you absolutely love what you do, everything just flows.”

Though Kohli didn’t participate in this warm-up game, it is expected to serve as a big positive for the team ahead of their Test series against the hosts. On day 1, the Indian side’s top order struggled, but a splendid century from KL Rahul and an outstanding 75 from Jadeja took India to a total of 311. India has bettered their abilities with the ball as well as currently, the County team is 76-4.
