India is filled with talent when it comes to cricket. With as many as 37 teams competing in the country’s premier competition, some of the exceptional talents are bound to get ignored by the national selectors. One of them is Jalaj Saxena who is currently playing for Kerala in the domestic circuit. Though the cricketer hasn’t given up on his ambitions to play for India and feels that age is just a number.

Saxena has always been among the top in the wicket-taking charts in the last five seasons and then on an average has scored around 500 runs every season in Ranji Trophy. He was instrumental in his team reaching the semi-finals for the first time this season. But being a domestic phenomenon hasn’t helped him thanks to lack of attention. He is a dream player every team wants to have as an all-rounder but the selectors haven’t picked him yet.

However, even at the age of 32, Jalaj Saxena feels he will don the dream India jersey one day and wants to stay fit for the same.

IPL 2019 a good chance

“I still have a dream to play for India. Age is just a number and fitness is an important aspect of my life. Yoga has helped me a lot, my father is a trainer as well. Professionally, it has helped my keep calm during tough times while helping me improve concentration and flexibility,” he said while speaking to Mail Today.

Jalaj Saxena’s exploits in the Ranji Trophy has earned him a much-needed IPL contract as Delhi Capitals snaffled him in the auction last year in December. He is looking at it as a serious opportunity which could pave his way into the Indian team.

“I am pretty serious about the opportunity. I want to do my best for the Capitals in whatever capacity the team wants. In this era, being an all-rounder gives me a brighter chance at playing regularly at the top level,” he added.
