Watch: Alfanso Thomas creates record by claiming 4 wickets in 4 balls: A bowler celebrates a hat-trick like he has got all the joys world can offer, imagine the level of cloud he’d be if he gets 4 in 4. Alphonso Thomas the South Africa-born seamer playing for the English county side Somerset on Tuesday against a tough rival Sussex. Thomas just ripped apart the Sussex batting with those four and Somerset won the match by 6 wickets.Thomas who is 37 years old first claimed a hat-trick by taking the wickets of James Anyon, Rory Hamilton-Brown and Ed Joyce in the last three deliveries of his over.

Then came back to bowl his next and cleaned up Matt Machan on the very first ball to make it his 4th wicket in as many balls. The quadratic blows that he gave shattered Sussex’s chance of making a good score and they were all done for 178 in which Alfonso alone removed 5 costing 40 runs. Somerset won the game quite comfortably in the end with six wickets in hand.

Thomas also created a record by becoming the first bowler since 2000 to take 4 wickets in 4 balls and became the 18th bowler in all to do so. This is no mean achievement and you need precise control, consistent line and length along with perfect plan for the get 4 batsmen out in a heap.
