Three-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a disastrous outing in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It was the first time in the history of the tournament that the Super Kings failed to reach the playoffs. MS Dhoni-led side finished at the seventh spot with just 12 points under their belt from 14 games.

However, they buried the demons of the past and scripted a stunning comeback in the ongoing 14th edition of the T20 Extravaganza. They started off their campaign in IPL 2021 with a loss against Delhi Capitals (DC) but haven’t looked back since then.

After the match against DC, CSK returned to the winning ways as they won their next five matches on the trot. The Yellow Army has emerged victorious against KKR, RR, PBKS, RCB, and SRH. As a result, they are placed at the top of the points table with 10 points from six games.

The all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja finally revealed the secret behind CSK’s massive success in IPL 2021. While speaking in an interview before CSK’s match against the Mumbai Indians, Jadeja revealed that this year all the batsmen are essaying their roles well and have been making significant contributions to the scoreboard.

Mumbai is a team that you cannot take lightly: Ravindra Jadeja

“Momentum is a crucial factor in T20 cricket. All batsmen are playing their roles well. Even the small contributions to the team make a significant difference. So, I think that’s what we are doing differently this year,” said Ravindra Jadeja.

The clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings is considered one of the most highly-anticipated affairs of the entire tournament. When Jadeja was questioned whether CSK makes some special plans for their arch-rivals, the all-rounder revealed that there are no special plans but the players will need to be more focused on the field.

“No, there’s nothing different. But since they are a good team, we will have to focus a bit more on the field. Mumbai is a team that you cannot take lightly. All three departments of their team are strong. So, we will have to focus more and try to bring our ‘A’ game to the table tonight,” the 32-year-old concluded.
