Ambati Rayudu to captain HCA XI in Moin-ud-Dowlah cricket tournament

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) recently announced participating squads for the All India Coromandel King Moin-ud-Dowlah Gold Cup Cricket Tournament. One prominent name in the HCA XI squad was that of Indian batsman, Ambati Rayudu. He has also been entrusted upon with the duty of captaining the HCA XI side in the tournament.
Serving the role of a middle-order batsman and part-time wicketkeeper, Rayudu has been a regular feature in the Mumbai Indians side in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has consistently managed to score runs and strike up crucial knocks, contributing to his team’s victory. He has also represented the national team in 34 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) till date and has accrued 1055 runs with 2 centuries and 6 half-centuries to his name.
Rayudu to lead HCA XI
The HCA declared the playing squad for the upcoming Moin-ud-Dowlah Championship. The tournament is set to be held in Hyderabad from August 22 to 31. The team comprises Ambati Rayudu (C), CV Milind, Akshath Reddy, Tanmay Agarwal, Rohith Rayudu, N Thaukr Tilak Verma, B Sandeep, Ashish Reddy, Akash Bhandari, Mehdi Hasan, Md Siraj, M Ravi Kiran, K Sumanth, Md Muddasir, Saketh Sairam and Bhagath Varma, as HCA said in a release today.
Appointing Rayudu as the captain comes as a natural move as the 31-year-old has been a part of the Hyderabad side since his youth days. He began his career playing for Hyderabad teams in the late-1990s and was a part of both the U16 and U19 teams of the regional side. Rayudu appeared in all matches for Hyderabad in the 2002–03 Ranji Trophy and amassed a total of 698 runs at an average of 69.80 to finish third on the leading run-scorers list.
Further, the HCA also announced the President’s XI team for the Moin-ud-Dowlah cricket tournament. The team includes Amol Shinde (C ), Yatin Reddy, Shashidhar Reddy, B Rahul. Chandan Shahani, Mir Jaweed Ali, Rohit Reddy, Neeraj Bist, P Praneeth Reddy, Karthik Kak, Tanay Tyagarajan, Sudeep Tyagi, Hitesh Yadav, Omer Khan, M Radha Krishna and Vamshi Vardhan Reddy.
