Amitabh Bachchan in awe of 'magnificent' Virat Kohli

Team India defeated rather annihilated South Africa for the third time in a row in the ongoing six-match ODI series on Wednesday at Newlands. It was a herculean effort from the skipper Virat Kohli with the bat who scored an unbeaten knock of 160 after the home side elected to field first. His knock made the difference eventually as the visitors pocketed the match by 124 runs. However, the legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t control his excitement after the victory and congratulated the team over the thumping win.

Kohli and his men cannot lose the series now as they have taken an unassailable lead of 3-0 with three matches still to go. They would love to close the door for the struggling Proteas side in the fourth game itself which is remarked as the Pink ODI for a social cause by Cricket South Africa (CSA). Though they will now be bolstered by the return of AB de Villiers who is expected to return for the remainder of the series after being fit from a finger injury.

The much-awaited ODI series has begun and even the likes of Amitabh Bachchan is also a huge fan of cricket that he was awake watching the match. He was thrilled to watch the way the Indian wrist-spinning duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav spun the web around South Africa batsmen. Once again they shared 8 wickets between themselves as they ended the game with the combined figures of 8/69. However, it was Virat Kohli’s stupendous innings of 160* off 159 which won the heart of the legendary actor.

Soon after the victory, he took to Twitter and wrote a special message for the team and skipper Kohli. He mentioned that he was proud of their performance and also went on to say that all the complaints of non-performance have been answered by the Men in Blue. Bachchan also praised captain fantastic in a unique way and termed him as ‘simply magnificent’ for his consistency with the bat.
