The Indian wrist spinners ran through the South African batting line-up as the Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav shared eight wickets to clean up the hosts to 118. Kuldeep took three wickets like in the first game while Chahal stood as the chief destructor with his maiden ODI five-wicket haul. Both the spinners kept taking wickets as the home side were unsettled and lost their last ten wickets for 79 runs.

5/22 – Yuzvendra Chahal’s figures of 5/22 are the 2nd best in India-South Africa ODI matches behind Sunil Joshi’s 5/6 in 1999 Nairobi ODI. Chahal also became the 2nd Indian to take a 5-wicket haul in South Africa in this format after Ashish Nehra, who took 6/23 against England in 2003 CWC in Durban.


5/22 – Chahal’s figures of 5/22 are the 2nd best for any player in ODI cricket against South Africa in South Africa. Wasim Akram took 5/16 back in 1993 in the ODI game in East London.


5/22 – Chahal’s bowling figures in this game are the 2nd best for a spinner in the ODI format in South Africa. Nicky Boje registered figures 5/21 against Australia in the 2002 Cape Town ODI.

Sri Lankan spinners took eight wickets apiece against South Africa and Pakistan in 1998 at Johannesburg and Paarl respectively while India and Kenya’s spinners also took eight wickets each in an ODI in the 2003 World Cup against Namibia in Pietermaritzburg and Bangladesh in Johannesburg respectively.
