Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan lauded the Indian cricket team after they clean swept New Zealand 3-0 to come back to winning ways after a forgettable campaign at the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE.
“Champions… INDIA! Gir jaana, haar jaana, yudh ke maidaan mein , haan maana. Dhvaj phairana , bal par apne , phir khade ho jaana, ye jaana…ghudasavaar ve, jo gir kar, phir savaar ho jaate hain, phir gaya paani unpar, jo maarte the unpar ashleel taana,” he wrote.
India went into the third and final encounter in Kolkata after victories in Jaipur and Ranchi, and the Rohit Sharma-led unit ensured to keep their winning run intact, as they thumped New Zealand by 73 runs. With the effort, India became the only country to affect a clean sweep against New Zealand both home and away, having previously won 5-0 under Virat Kohli in early 2020 in Kiwi’s den.

ध्वज फैहरना , बल पर अपने , फिर खड़े हो जाना, ये जाना

In the final game, India posted 184/7 on the back of Rohit Sharma’s quick-fire half-century (56 off 31) and brisk cameos of Harshal Patel (18 off 12) Deepak Chahar (21 off 8) before Axar Patel’s Player of the Match 3/9 and Harshal’s 2/26 helped them to a comfortable win. Patel struck thrice inside the powerplay to dent New Zealand, who never recovered and were dismissed eventually for 111 in 17.2 overs.
“It was an exceptional feeling. I mean, I didn’t expect the debut match to go this well because all my debuts before today have never been this good. But I executed my skills well and the result was also in our favour and we ended up winning the game. I don’t know, we haven’t decided it but it seems like the Player of the Match will stay between us Patels!”, Harshal said after India’s victory in response to Axar’s query regarding his match-winning performance in a BCCI-posted video
“The change for me has mainly been in the mindset. I had all these skills before as well. The mindset change in the last two years has got me the results. And whatever I did in the IPL, I had decided to carry the same mindset in this series. Those things are working for me and I am very happy about it,” he added.
