India came from behind to beat Australia 2-1 in the three-match ODI series and the nation was in for boundless joy and celebration. It was just a fortnight back that India bagged their maiden Test series victory Down Under and on January 18, Virat Kohli gifted the countrymen another moment to rejoice. Guided by yet another classic from the veteran MS Dhoni who hit his third fifty in the series in as many matches, India won the decider in Melbourne by 7 wickets to pocket their maiden bilateral series in Australia.

Congratulatory messages poured in for Dhoni who was at the receiving end given his poor batting form until recently before he hit 51 in the first match of the series in Sydney. However, the innings proved to be too slow to convince the fans and the former India captain had to produce two more gems (he hit 55 not out off 54 balls in Adelaide) to cement the claim that he can still be a finisher at the twilight of a glorious career.

Mahindra chairman thanks Team India on behalf of “grateful nation”

Chairman of the Mahindra Group, a business conglomerate based in Mumbai, Anand Mahindra too could not hide his glee over India’s memorable wins in the Test and ODI series Down Under. In a tweet, he said that the current Indian team smashed the belief that Australia get on top whenever India play them in their den.

He expressed gratitude on behalf of a “grateful nation” and then came up with one of the most unique praises for Dhoni, calling the latter the “ultimate, unstoppable ‘Sport Utility Vehicle’!” Mahindra is one of the country’s frontline SUV manufacturers.

To Mahindra’s tweet, one fan said Dhoni is also a ‘Multi Purpose Vehicle’.

Dhoni scored 193 runs in three games at an average of 193 and was adjudged the man of the series. Bowler Yuzvendra Chahal, who also played in his first game of the series along with Kedar Jadhav, picked six wickets for just 42 runs in the game to win the man of the match award.
