Anil Kumble in attendence at Virat Kohli’s reception in Mumbai

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma tied the knots earlier this month in a destination wedding in Italy. After the auspicious occasion, several prominent names from the sporting and film fraternity showered the couple with blessings and appreciations. However, there were some big names in Indian cricket who dropped in delayed wishes for the lovebirds- Anil Kumble, former Indian coach being one of them.

Kohli and Kumble shared some severe altercations during the latter’s stint with the Indian team. Their heated exchanges hogged the headlines. Afterwards, the former leg-spinner resigned from his role. However, Jumbo, to everyone’s surprise, has been seen attending the reception party at the Astor Ballroom at the St Regis, Lower Parel in Mumbai.

Kohli and Kumble’s dark past

Both Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli are reputed personalities in the cricketing fraternity and have been greats of the game in their respective eras. During Kumble’s tenure as the head coach of the Indian team, the Men in Blue racked up several records.

However, Kumble was accused of leaking WhatsApp conversion about team news to the media. The situation worsened when one of the board members mentioned that Virat has reservations regarding Kumble’s coaching style.

Things worsened further after the Champions Trophy 2017, following which Kumble stepped down from the job. However, it’s heartening to see Anil Kumble attend the reception. The cricketing fraternity will be hoping that the two are able to work their relationship around since the two have a lot to contribute to Indian cricket not only in the current capacity but in the future as well.

The reception party will be Kohli’s last marriage celebrations after which he will travel South Africa for India’s campaign against the might of the South Africans which starts on the 5th of January at the Newlands in Cape Town.
