Virender Sehwag is known for his funny taunts and his frank nature. He doesn’t filter his thoughts and speaks from the heart. He is hyperactive on Twitter and keeps on tweeting about social issues and stuff related to cricket and other sports as well. However, one of his comments was twisted or misunderstood by the media recently.
Sehwag lost the race to Ravi Shastri for the head coach position of the Indian team. Sourav Ganguly from the Cricket Advisory Committee was also against Shastri’s appointment as the head coach. But irrespective of all that Indian captain Virat Kohli wanted Ravi as the coach and this turned the decision in the favour of the former Indian all-rounder.
Sehwag while on a Hindi news channel said that he would have grabbed the position of the head coach if he had a few “friends” in the board. This was not interpreted well by the media. On Friday, he said, “Dekhiye main coach isliye nahi ban paaya kyonki jo bhi coach chun rahe the unse mera koi setting nahin tha.” Which can be roughly translated as “Look I couldn’t become the (India) coach because I didn’t have any setting (common slang for hobnobbing with decision-makers) with those who were in power of appointing the coach.”

His nature on the field is somewhat similar off the field as well.
He said that the media should not twist his statement or take it otherwise. “It should not be taken otherwise,” he stated.
