Ravi Shastri, the head coach of Indian team believes that his players are no less than models and he needs to be fit always to stay with them. Indian players are in Chennai currently preparing for the ODI series against Australia. They are in the middle of the golden run in limited-overs but the team from down under would be the tough nut to crack. Also, the absence might hurt the hosts for the first three games now.

Shastri has always been vocal and confident about the things going around him. Recently, he cleared that Virat Kohli is the boss of the team and the coaching staff is only to oversee the preparations. On Thursday, he also warned Aussies that if they sledge the Men in Blue, they will retaliate quickly. Similarly, he was also free to talk about the style statement of the Indian players.

These are modern generation players

Ravi stated in a satirical manner that he needs to fall in line with the players who are no less than models. He was also quick to reject any chances of him changing his hairstyles. “All our players are no less than models and if I have to stay with the models, I have to remain fit. But I can’t match their hairstyles. These guys change their hairstyles every week. If I try and do that, I will lose my hair,” said the 55-year-old to India TV.

He was also a flamboyant individual during his playing days, but made his stand clear that he lets players do whatever they want to off the field but also expects them to focus on their game when back o the field. “This is the modern generation. I want them to do whatever they want to do off the field, but once they are on the field, they should focus on cricket, on their work ethics,” he said.

The coach also revealed a funny fact that it was the Shikhar Dhawan who had cut Hardik Pandya’s hair which gave him the new look. “Hardik Pandya’s current hairstyle has been given by Shikhar Dhawan. He had cut Pandya’s hair. There is a lot of talent in the team,” he smiled while statin.

The first ODI between India and Australia is set to be played on Sunday while the teams will travel all the way to Kolkata for the next encounter.
