Jhulan Goswami is a legend of women cricket not only in India but internationally as well. The veteran fast bowler has been playing for the Indian team since 2002 and despite having a career lasting for 18 years, she still is going strong in the ODI format for the Indian eves. Rightfully, her story of the struggle to glory will be shown on the silver screen as actress Anushka Sharma will be essaying her role in her biopic.

The actress, who is also the better-half of Indian men’s team captain Virat Kohli, had not announced a single film in 2019, with her last release being Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif co-starrer ‘Zero’. Though there has been no official announcement of the biopic, there have been leaks that Anushka has agreed to step into the legend’s shoes and recently the duo was seen shooting and rehearsing with Jhulan.

If the news is confirmed, then this will be the second big biopic on a female cricketer, after Tapsee Pannu announced a movie on the life of Mithali Raj titled- “Shabaash Mithu” on Raj’s birthday some time ago.

Reportedly, the biopic of Jhulan Goswami has been titled the Chakdaha Express, based on the place where the cricketer hails from and on Saturday, Anushka Sharma was seen dressed in Indian cricket team’s jersey as she began shooting. The actress was joined by Jhulan Goswami herself at the time of the shooting. Anushka was trying to mirror the walk and mannerisms of the bowler.

Here are some of the pics of Anushka and Jhulan from the shoot:

The actress filmed a scene of entering the stadium with 10 players. The crew shot till 5 am in the morning but Anushka packed up at 4 am and left for Mumbai on Sunday. The pacer had retired from T20Is from 2018, the same year where she became the first bowler to pick 200 wickets in women’s ODI cricket.

She was named the ICC Women’s Player of Year award in 2007, later had a postage stamp issued in her honour. In a legendary career, Jhulan has 225 wickets in 182 ODIs, 40 wickets in 10 Tests and 56 scalps in 68 T20Is. The 37-year-old is still going strong with no signs of hanging up her boots in the near future.
