When asked about his aspirations to own a cricket team, Arjun Kapoor was optimistic over the idea of owning a cricket franchise as well.
I have a keen interest in cricket also
Speaking to IANS, Arjun Kapoor felt that the IPL was doing too good on all fronts. He didn’t rule out on his aspirations regarding ownership of a cricket team and so showed his keenness for the same.
“The Indian Premier League (IPL) is really flying at a level where everything is pretty self-sufficient now but never say never… I have a keen interest in cricket also.”
He further mentioned that in order to become a part of something, a connection was needed. He told that he will take such a step only if he can contribute and not just because it was a fashion.
“I would love to be a part of something where I contribute and not just because it’s in fashion. You need to feel a connect,” he added.
Over the years we’ve seen various actors own teams. The Baadshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan is the owner of two time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand, Preity Zinta is also a proud owner of Kings XI Punjab while Shilpa Shetty owns Rajasthan Royals.
While various actors like Salman Khan have shown keen interest to own IPL teams, things haven’t worked out in their favour. Currently, there’s a lot of regulations regarding the upcoming auctions to deal with. Issues like the retention policy, auction purse, etc are to be dealt with by the Governing Council soon.
