Arjun Tendulkar has been creating ripples in junior-level cricket for quite some time now. He seems all set to pull away from the overwhelming pressure of being Sachin Tendulkar‘s son and carve a niche for himself. A recently concluded days match in the Cooch Behar U19 saw the youngster pick up 5 wickets.

Previously, Arjun had made headlines when he’d been seen bowling at the nets session to Virat Kohli during the India-New Zealand series. He also tried his hand at bowling to the likes of Jonny Bairstow during the South Africa series, whom he also dismissed with a superb yorker. The 18-year-old has represented Mumbai at the U14 and U19 levels.

Arjun bowls spectacularly for Mumbai

The Mumbai versus Madhya Pradesh match in the Coochbehar U19 Trophy saw young Tendulkar unleash his bowling skills in the second innings. Madhya Pradesh had put up a total of 361 on the board, in reply to which Mumbai registered a staggering score of 506. The second innings for Madhya Pradesh was Tendulkar’s opportunity to shine and he latched onto the chance with both hands.

Arjun Tendulkar picked up 5 wickets to help his team’s cause. He demolished the top order of the opposition as he dismissed the top 4 batsmen. The fifth wicket was deposited in his kitty as he scalped the number 9 batsman. Madhya Pradesh were bowled out for 411, with the match ending in a draw.

The pressure of expectations on the young man has been humongous ever since he’s stepped onto the cricket field owing to his father’s genius with the bat. While many cynics have opined for this pressure to tell on Arjun Tendulkar, it has not been the case till date. The young lad, who’s a bowler in contrast to his father’s batting role, has put up exemplary performances with the ball more than once and is definitely a talent to watch out for in the future.
