Ashes 2021-22: Michael Neser smashes the rover camera with a boundary

Having won the opening Ashes Test by nine wickets, Australia continue to dominate the proceedings in the second Test against England. Electing to bat first at the Adelaide Oval, the hosts declared at 472/9 with several batters playing substantial knocks. While Marnus Labuschagne stole the show with a remarkable century, Steve Smith and David Warner contribute with nineties.

The lower order also came to the party with the likes of Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc and Michael Neser playing significant knocks later in the innings. Notably, Neser is making his Test debut in the game as regular captain Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are not participating in the game. While Neser is primarily a bowler, he made his bat talk in his maiden Test innings.

The right-handed batter attacked bowlers from the outset and scored runs all over the park. He eventually fell prey to Ben Stokes but not before scoring 35 off just 24 deliveries. His brief but fiery cameo was studded with five fours and a six as well. Notably, one of his boundaries also smashed the rover camera outside the boundary rope.

It was the fourth ball of the 147th over and Chris Woakes was operating with the ball. Neser’s eyes lit up seeing the length delivery as he smashed the ball wide of mid-on. The ball crossed the ropes on one bounce and went onto hit the rover camera, which was on operation.

Meanwhile, Australia comfortably have the command after the end of first innings and they would be pretty confident of clinching yet another game. It must be noted that the Aussies have played eight Day-Night Test matches so far and emerged winners every single time. As they have made a sensational start in the Adelaide Test, the Three Lions need to play out of their skin to come back in the reckoning.

Not to forgot, the pink ball does more talking than the usual red one and the same was witnessed in Australia’s first innings. Mitchell Starc would possess a massive threat to the Three Lions, having done well in previous Pink-ball games. Hence, Joe Root’s men have a stern road ahead.
