Upcoming Indian fast bowler, Ishan Porel had grabbed the attention of the fans after he lifted the U-19 World Cup with the team in New Zealand last year. He will return to New Zealand once again as a part of the India ‘A’ squad in early 2020. The fast bowler is currently playing for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2019-20. His 4-wicket haul in the first innings against Andhra Pradesh helped his team take the vital first-innings lead.

Ishan dismissed the quartet of Hanuma Vihari, Srikar Bharat, Yarra Prithviraj and Ricky Bhui after Bengal had posted 289 runs on the board. Porel’s magnificent spell kept Andhra Pradesh down to 181 runs in the first innings.

“I am in good form and I am enjoying that”: Ishan Porel

Talking to the reporters, Porel touched a range of topics right from his knack of getting the good batsman out to the upcoming New Zealand tour. “Hanuma Vihari’s wicket is the most satisfying. He is technically very sound and a current India player. I got him out with a bouncer in the Deodhar Trophy. I do have a knack of getting good batsmen out,” said Porel when asked about his fantastic bowling performance against Andhra Pradesh

The upcoming fast bowler later disclosed his preparations for India ‘A’ tour. “I have played there before. I know somewhat what the conditions can be. I am going at the same time maybe 15-20 days apart. It won’t be a big difference. The way I am bowling here, hopefully, if I can continue will do well,” Porel further said as quoted by The Times of India.

He is leading the pace attack of Bengal in Ranji Trophy after Mohammad Shami opted to take rest and veteran Ashok Dinda received a suspension. Reflecting his views on the same, Porel stated: “I am in good form and I am enjoying that. I have no pressure.”

Finally, Ishan Porel talked about Ashok Dinda’s suspension and told the reporters- “He’s my role model. He’s a seasoned campaigner with more than 400 first-class wickets. The way he guides you through from mid-on and mid-off has always been helpful.” It will be interesting to see how Porel performs for India ‘A’ in the approaching series.
