The India Women versus the Pakistan Women game was the most anticipated game in the Womens Asia Cup T20 2018. The fans had to wait long for this game since this was scheduled on the last day of the league stages of the tournament. Moreover, what was more exciting is that this was a do or die game for both the teams which made it more interesting.

Both India Women and Pakistan Women had six points each before this game commenced. Since it is quite obvious that Bangladesh Women would win against a much weaker Malaysia Women, the winner of this game would make it to the final. Pakistan never defeated India in the Asia Cup thus far and this record will stand for some more time.

Bowlers and Harmanpreet Kaur ensure that India Women win the game

This game was a high-pressure game for both the sides. In this must-win game, Pakistan Women opted to bat first after winning the toss. However, this decision didn’t pay great dividends for them. India Women were absolutely ruthless with the ball. They dismissed the inform Pakistani openers and skipper Maroof to restrict Pakistan to a small total.

Pakistan Women only managed to score 72 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Sana Mir was the leading run-scorer with 20 runs. Ekta Bisht picked 3 wickets. Chasing this small total, India Women were struck with huge blows initially. Skipper Mithali Raj was dismissed for a duck. Furthermore, Deepti Sharma who came in at No 3 was also dismissed for a duck and the team was down to 5/2 within the third over.

However, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur kept their cool to help India get a 7-wicket win in the game. While Mandhana scored 38, Kaur stayed there till the end scoring 34 and she also hit the winning four. Ekta Bisht was the ‘Player of the Match’. Twitterati was overjoyed as India progressed to the final and shared their happiness on the micro-blogging site.
