India have had a stupendous campaign of the 2018 Asia Cup as they won their first four matches of the multi-nation event without much fuss. However, their match against Afghanistan at Dubai International Stadium yesterday turned out to be a tad different though. In the beginning, Mohammad Shahzad’s fifth ODI ton coupled with Mohammad Nabi’s half-century put forth a substantial target of 253 runs.

KL Rahul and Ambati Rayudu started the run-chase in a resounding manner with a 110-run stand, which was eventually broken by Nabi. Thereafter, the Men in Blue huffed and puffed and lost wickets at regular intervals, much to their discomfort. In the last over, India needed seven runs to get over the line and leg-break bowler Rashid Khan had the onus for the Afghans to defend the runs.

Junior Sardarji not happy

Jadeja smacked a boundary early in the over to bring the target down but holed out to Najibullah Zadran in the deep in the penultimate delivery of the encounter. The match ended in a tie as India were bowled out for 252 with one ball to spare. In the meantime, India’s ending didn’t please a young Punjabi kid by any means.

The youngster broke into tears, hugging Amarpreet Singh, who was accompanying him during the heart-racing thriller. Thereafter, Indian fast-bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar called the boy personally to console him.  Amanpreet mentioned that the child is happy and is raring to cheer for India in the final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday, September 28. Moreover, he appreciated Bhuvneshwar’s gesture towards the child. He replied to the all-rounder and wrote, “He is happy now and looking forward to watching the finals… Really kind of @BhuviOfficial to call and cheer him up,”

Here is Amarpreet’s reply
