Former Rajasthan Royals player, Pravin Tambe has broken his own record of being the oldest player to get a bid in the IPL Auction. The 48-year-old got picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders at his base price of 20 lakhs INR during the IPL 2020 Auction. Tambe already holds the record for being the seniormost debutant in IPL history having made his debut at the age of 41.

When the players decide to hang up their boots, Tambe kick-started his dream journey. Rajasthan Royals first put their faith in him and he repaid the owners by taking a two-ball hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2014. However, the suspension of Rajasthan put him out of the franchise. Gujarat Lions snapped him up next and later, he became a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad as well.

Having a ton of experience in the T20 format, Tambe has even tried his hand in the T10 League. In fact, he was the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the cricket’s shortest format. Pravin will be of utmost importance for the Kolkata Knight Riders because the leg-spinners have always proven to be successful in the T20 cricket.

Pravin Tambe had played for Gujarat Lions in 2016

Talking about his numbers in the Indian Premier League now, Pravin has featured in 33 IPL games, scalping 28 wickets at an average of 30.46. He achieved his best bowling figures of 4/20 while playing for RR in IPL 2014. The 2014 edition was his best season as well because he ended the tournament with 15 wickets in 13 matches and an economy rate of 7.26. His numbers dipped a bit in 2015 as he could scalp only 7 wickets in 10 matches.

Playing for the Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016, Pravin Tambe had picked up 5 wickets in the 7 matches that he donned the orange jersey. Unfortunately, he has not played a single IPL game since that season.

Kolkata Knight Riders made very interesting purchases in the IPL Auction today as they signed Pat Cummins for a record sum of 15.50 Crores besides grabbing the services of Tom Banton, Eoin Morgan, Chris Green, Rahul Tripathi, Nikhil Naik, Varun Chakravarthy and M Siddharth. With Dinesh Karthik confirmed to lead the team, it will be interesting to see how they perform this year.
