Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has been keeping his fans entertained with his analysis videos on social media platforms during this lockdown. This time around he has answered some of the toughest questions from the fans in his latest videos. And has also opined on the team with the best pace attack in the longest form of the game.
According to him, India and Australia are the two sides with the best fast bowling attack in the Tests at the moment. Both the teams have been dominating the format over the last few years. Interestingly, they are extremely strong playing at home and fared well in foreign conditions as well. Australia retained the Ashes last year in England while India won a Test series for the first time down under and also stunned England and South Africa winning a Test each.
In his latest Youtube video on his official channel, Aakash Chopra lauded the variety Australia possesses in its pace attack. They have Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc which can rip apart any bowling line-up. Moreover, James Pattinson also made a comeback in the Ashes and was equally effective.
To add to it, he reckoned that Starc’s left-arm pace brings variety and also termed Cummins as the X-factor. For the same reason, the 42-year-old picked Australia’s pace attack as marginally better than India.
Aakash Chopra lauds India pacers too
Having said that, Aakash Chopra was all praise of India’s current pace lot too. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma have been exceptional, to say the least, for team India bundling out the opposition teams regularly. Even Umesh Yadav turns beast at home and has been impressive overseas as well.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been one of the top fast bowlers in the country. Unfortunately, his career has been plagued with injuries in the last few months and has led him to not playing Tests at all. But as of now, India seems to be in good hands as far as the pace attack is concerned, When it came to picking the third-best team, Aakash Chopra preferred not to chose indirectly stating that India and Australia are the only sides with better pacers.
