Rain welcomed India on this tour of Australia as the first two games of the three-match T20I series were affected by rain. The hosts won the first T20I in Brisbane where India were chasing 15 runs more than the Aussie total due to a DLS revision. India ended up on the losing side as they fell four runs short of the revised target. In the second game, Australia made only 132/7 in the 19 overs before a long rain interval that brought an end to the game.

India would be gutted to miss out on an opportunity of winning both the games. Instead, they have now brought an end to their streak of seven consecutive T20I series/tournament wins. However, they still have a chance to win the final game and get off the mark on the tour. India would be happy how things fared for them with the ball in the last game. Khaleel Ahmed and Krunal Pandya bounced back in the previous game by dismissing the players who attacked them in the first T20I.

This game will be crucial for the hosts as well, who have won only one series/tournament in any format since their Ashes win at the start of the year. Aussies stood as winners of the Trans-Tasman T20I Triangular series jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand that involved England as the 3rd time. Mitchell Starc has been brought into the Australian squad in place of injured Billy Stanlake for the crucial last T20I in Sydney.

Match Details:

The third T20I match between Australia and India will be hosted by the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

The match starts at 6:50 PM local time (7:50 AM GMT) (1:20 PM IST).

Last five completed T20I matches:

Australia: W, L, L, L, L.

India: L, W, W, W, W.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Chasing teams have a fair amount of success in the recent times at the SCG in the T20 format. Eight of the previous nine Twenty20 games played at this venue have been won by the teams chasing.

Squads:

Australia:

Aaron Finch (C), Alex Carey, Ashton Agar, Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell, Ben McDermott, D’Arcy Short, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa.

India:

Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, K Khaleel Ahmed.

Probable XI:

Australia:

Aaron Finch (C), D’Arcy Short, Alex Carey, Chris Lynn, Ben McDermott, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff/Mitchell Starc, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa.

India:

Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal/K Khaleel Ahmed.

Power Picks:

In the seven Internationals that Nathan Coulter-Nile has played in 2018, only Glenn Maxwell (144) has scored more than him (115 runs). Khaleel Ahmed is assured of taking a wicket irrespective of the runs he concedes.

Best Playing XI:

Rishabh Pant, Chris Lynn, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Rohit Sharma is a hit or miss in the T20I format as he scored four single-digit scores and two unbeaten centuries. He can make you win if he is your multiplier on the day. Virat Kohli can be made as one of the multipliers only if he is going to bat at No.3. One of Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah makes a really good vice-captain.

Expert Advice:

India could consider bringing in Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Khaleel Ahmed if they feel they will need another spinner at the SCG. They might also continue with KL Rahul at No.3 leaving Kohli to bat at No.4.

Probable Winners:

Team India is expected to bounce back in the final game and ensure they don’t lose this T20I series.
