Australia vs India: Decoding Wasim Jaffer's 'hidden message' to Ajinkya Rahane ahead of SCG Test

Wasim Jaffer is certainly making his presence felt on social media. The former Indian batsman posted what can be termed as his ‘hidden choice’ of the Indian batting line up for the third Test against Australia at Sydney. With the series currently locked at 1-1, India would be looking to continue their good work from Melbourne and deliver another solid performance in Sydney, beat the kangaroos in their backyard, and retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

With Rohit Sharma being appointed as the vice-captain of the Indian Test side for the third and fourth Tests, there has been a lot of speculation about the batting order that India would adopt for the New Year’s Test. Decoding Wasim Jaffer’s Tweet

Now then, let us try to decode what Jaffer meant. He has made a reference to filter coffee, which might probably mean that he is hinting at KL Rahul at the top of the order, as everyone knows about the controversy that Rahul was embroiled in, over a cup of coffee with Karan Johar. Then he has made a reference to how ‘fish can breathe underwater’, and it is a no-brainer that they breathe through their gills. So, that means according to Jaffer, Shubman Gill would open the batting alongside KL Rahul.

He also mentions that he walked past a portrait of Che Guevara, and followers of Indian cricket would be aware that Che is Cheteshwar Pujara’s nickname. That means Pujara continues in his position at No.3 according to Jaffer. Now, what could old pal from Dombivali mean?

It has been announced recently that Rohit Sharma has been appointed vice-captain of the Indian side for the remaining two Tests against Australia, and an interesting thing to note here is the fact that Rohit Sharma’s birthplace is Dombivali. So, that means Rohit will occupy the No.4 slot.

And, his tweet ends with a reference to a restaurant in Borivali. And, that happens to be the birthplace of stand-in-skipper Ajinkya Rahane. So, according to Jaffer India’s Top five for the Sydney Test would be KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane.
