India’s tour of Australia has set the expectations really high. With the two teams playing all the three formats in challenging conditions is exactly what the fans have been waiting for. The Indian team is in prime form and they’ve traditionally struggled to pull out the performances in Australia. It is only fair that there are a perfect set of commentators for such a contest and thus Sony has signed on the likes of Gautam Gambhir for the tour.

The Indian opener who toured the country twice in 2008 and 2011 will take up the microphone this time and present his expert views when the Indian team takes on the Aussies starting November 21. The tour starts with the three-match T20I series, which will be followed by four Tests and the three ODIs.

Big names in the commentary panel

Gambhir who is currently a part of the Delhi team for the Ranji Trophy will have to work his schedule out for both the commitments. Along with the opener, there are also the regular names in the legend Sunil Gavaskar, former Australian captain Michael Clarke, Harsha Bhogle, Gaurav Kapur, Sanjay Manjrekar, Murali Kartik, Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Ashish Nehra, Mark Butcher, Nick Knight, Dominic Cork, Deep Dasgupta and Vivek Razdan.

Gambhir is not the only new name on the panel, the network has also signed up another active cricketer in Saurashtra’s Robin Uthappa. He was expected to feature in the team but is out of action with an injury which required him to get a surgery and is under rehab at present.

“Extraaa Innings will be coming up with a new look and set design and our panel of experts will be providing pre, mid and post-match analyses of all the matches in the tour,” Sony Pictures Network said in a media release.
